SUPER ARS NOVA

Sunday, February 11, 2018. 4:00pm
Anderson House | 2118 Massachusetts Avenue NW
Washington, DC

In "Super Ars Nova", District5 explores the strange and fascinating world of music on the precipice of explosive change. Expect rule-breaking harmonies from the late Renaissance, trippy 70s electronic tape, Arabic/Klezmer/Gypsy tonalities, harmonicas, tubes, allusions to the mysterious Cyprus Codex, and more!

SUPERNOVA: the dramatic destruction of a massive star during the last stellar evolutionary stages of its life, whose end is marked by a final titanic explosion

ARS NOVA: a style of music of the 14th century, characterized by great freedom and variety of rhythm and melody contrasted with the strictness of the music of the 13th century

The American Revolution Institute of the Society of the Cincinnati presents District5 in the first concert of its spring American Music Series.

Program:
Jacob Druckman: Delizie Contente Che l'Alme Beate for wind quintet and electronic tape (1973)

Anderson House, a 1905 mansion and National Historic Landmark in Washington, DC, is the headquarters of the Society of the Cincinnati and its American Revolution Institute.
