District5 is a DC-based wind quintet unafraid to program the seemingly impossible. For 10 years, we have challenged audiences with our distinct blend of powerful music, engaging storytelling, and commitment to under-represented composers. We believe that the wind quintet has a unique responsibility to breathe new life into works deemed unimaginable for five wind players, as well as to share the stories and struggles of the people behind the music. Through commissions of contemporary works, album releases, and the premieres of over 100 new transcriptions, we are committed to using the wind quintet platform to tell a new musical narrative.
