SUPER ARS NOVA

In "Super Ars Nova", District5 explores the strange and fascinating world of music on the precipice of explosive change. Expect rule-breaking harmonies from the late Renaissance, trippy 70s electronic tape, Arabic/Klezmer/Gypsy tonalities, harmonicas, tubes, allusions to the mysterious Cyprus Codex, and more!SUPERNOVA: the dramatic destruction of a massive star during the last stellar evolutionary stages of its life, whose end is marked by a final titanic explosionARS NOVA: a style of music of the 14th century, characterized by great freedom and variety of rhythm and melody contrasted with the strictness of the music of the 13th century​. 
The American Revolution Institute of the Society of the Cincinnati presents District5 in the first concert of its spring American Music Series.

The Barns at Wolf Trap

District5 accompanied award-winning mezzo-soprano, Jamie Barton, at the end of her recital in a performance of Lee Hoiby's Bon Appétit! Bon Appétit! is a delightful one-act chamber opera depicting a Julia Child television episode, in which Julia Child prepares "Le Gateau au Chocolate l'Eminence Brune." Jamie Barton actually baked a chocolate cake on stage during the performance!
